The HealthCare ConsultLink Story

HealthCare ConsultLink (HCL) was founded by Bunny Walker in 1996. With a background in homecare management, Bunny wanted to get out of the corporate rat race.

She had seen and experienced how large corporations treated employees, as well as clients. Bunny wanted to have a company that was different. She wanted a company that not only met the needs of the client, but also treated the employees as she would want to be treated.

In the spring of 1997, Merryl Messer joined her. The two of them assisted agencies in coming into compliance with regulation. When the Medicare reimbursement system changed in 2000, many agencies contracted with HCL to do their quality improvement program.

HCL is the largest homecare and hospice consulting company that is based in Texas.
Over 2000 agencies have the policy and procedure manuals that HCL produces. Many of the Texas state surveyors still refer to the manual as the “Bunny book.”

Branching into other programs, such as hospice and personal assistance care, HCL now has clients in 13 states. Currently we employ 24 RN consultants and two financial consultants. HCL provides seminars to meet the continuing education needs of administrators, nurses and social workers.

Even with that growth, the employees, consultants and clients are treated with as much respect, compassion and concern as is humanly possible. For a decade and a half, the “Golden Rule” of business has served us well, and that’s one thing that will never change about HealthCare ConsultLink.
